Be sure to stop by the Walt Disney Hometown Museum and the Marceline Railroad Story exhibits on Saturday, May 2. Marceline will celebrate its 4th Annual Railroad Heritage Day. The Museum will open an hour earlier at 9am for the Railroad Heritage Day event!
The Museum is located in the 1913 AT&SF depot which was purchase in 1997 and The Marceline Railroad Story is located in the Lunch Room (‘The Beanery’) immediately adjacent to the Museum, which was a restaurant that served train passengers.
The Marceline Railroad Story exhibits begin with early settlers homesteading in the area called ‘Buck Snort’ and leads visitors through to the arrival of the AT&SF and the founding of Marceline, MO. The story ends with the final BNSF crew change in Marceline. Through eye witness accounts, the exhibit tells the story of the people of Marceline, the railroad and coal mining.
The Museum has been open for 14 years and has become a thriving and increasingly popular travel destination. It has been gifted with more than 3,000 artifacts by the Disney family and more than 900 pieces of AT&SF memorabilia and artifacts.
We hope you join us to celebrate Marceline’s 4th Annual Railroad Heritage Day on May 2nd.
